Laser Tube Cutting

We can create almost any cut-feature or geometry on tubes, including fish mouth, profile, copes, and slots. Our laser cutting systems allow us to perform high-speed cutting without additional requirement for hard tools. The Bassett tube laser cutting technique eliminates the need for saws, drills, nibblers, milling machines, and hand-held plasma torches, by combining these various processes in a single operation.

Laser tube cutting is a single operation solution for wide range of tube cut features and complex tube end form geometry. The use of existing tooling reduces piece price and tooling expenses considerably, and helps with faster part turnarounds.

Laser Cutting Considerations

• Minimum hole diameter: The general rule of thumb is minimum hole diameter is equal to or greater than the material thickness. A 5/16″DIA hole can be put in 1″thk plate but not with great speed and reliability. The cutting speed and pierce routine must be adjusted which increases time and part cost.
• Tolerances: The tighter the tolerance, the greater the cost. Don’t pay for something you don’t need. Where possible open all tolerances and deviate from engineering block tolerances when appropriate.
